...damnatis me cum insania perpetua, in scribendo autem quiesco...

Back From The Dead

Gah, it's almost as if I died and just came back to life.

The illness took nearly a month to get rid of, and honestly I'm still not 100%. Right now I still have the lovely Ohio Valley Crud, but at least I don't feel half-dead on top of that. We're presently down in Nashville spending time with the Maternal Unit...and while we have to come back on Baby-Hippy-Jesus Day thanks to Smacky's work on Tuesday, we can at least spend a few days with family and have an enjoyable holiday.

I cannot even being to catch up with all the stuff I've wanted to post here. The trip to moisture-forsaken O'bo was fun despite feeling dessicated the entire time. I got to meet a bunch of Smacky's old friends and cohorts...all of them music nerds. Despite the bad music-nerd jokes, it was a fun trip.

Work has been great. Busy. But great. I cannot say how great it is to work for an employer that respects me as a person and values my contribution to their enterprise. My boss is great. My boss' boss, and the boss' boss' boss are great as well. The work stays heavy, but the challenges keep coming and so far I've done OK with keeping pace. The work-life balance is still wavering a little these first few months, but it hasn't been too bad...and being happy at work makes a huge difference in the quality of the life part of that balance.

The holidays have been great for good food and seeing friends and family. The last week I've been stuffed by Ruth's Chris, great barbeque, a great work holiday party at Lucky Strike downtown at 4th Street Live, wonderful Chinese, and more. And that was before we even left town for holiday eats in Nashville.

Alan & Anita have been in town, which is nice since we didn't get to spend much time with them the last time they were in. We had a great 3RD in December with the fish & chip fest. A full house, lots of great food, and great company...even if it eventually devolved into a depraved game of Munchkin. The Webhamster brought the new addition to the webhamster family...she's terribly cute and possibly one of the happiest babies we've ever seen. Chili's back in for the hols...which was great...we've missed him something fierce since he moved to Cali.

All in all, we're doing great. Now that I don't feel sick anymore, I'll hopefully give more attention to Fever.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
