River Bend Winery

I swear I'm not on a local wine kick! This isn't so much a single wine, as it is an entire winery.

I was at an event at the River Bend Winery last night and got to try a few of their wines. The chardonnay was very good, as was the Cuvee Blue. I had a couple sips of their cabernet, and either it was really good, or the person originally drinking from the glass had some very tasty back wash. Ok, nevermind. I'll just say it was good.

I don't know what the years are on their wines, but there were around ten different varieties. The only other information I have is their address:

River Bend Winery, 120 South 10th Street, Louisville

(Its between Main and Market, just down from Caufield's.)

Enjoy!

Broad Run - Cabernet Sauvignon - 2001

A date brought me this bottle of wine because he liked the idea it was produced in Louisville. Yes, apparently we have vineyards in Louisville. Go figure.

If you're looking for something different, and you're curious about what grapes grown in this town must taste like, then go and get yourself a bottle. It didn't make me say, "fabulous!" but it was definitely an interesting find.

It tasted a little homemade. Not as homey as the wine my grandfather used to make in his fallout shelter in Podunk, KY though.

It had hints of blackberry and was very strong. We tried it with mild cheddar cheese, and I suspect it might be better with something a little sweeter and less pungent. It is really good with watermelon and honeydew though.

I have no clue where it was purchased, but the address listed on the label was:

10601 Broad Run Road, Louisville, KY.
